A lightweight knife with an unusual flipper mechanism
Looking for the perfect smaller knife but want something with a little extra style? Enter the Kershaw “Over Drive” or OD-2.
It’s extremely lightweight and packs quite a punch for its size. Perfect for most light-to-medium duty jobs, it’s small enough to fit into the fifth pocket in your jeans and tough enough to take with you on backcountry treks. The extra style of the OD-2 comes from its OD flipper mechanism. Designed by Lee Williams, the OD flipper is exceptionally easy to open. What’s more, once open, it folds away into the handle so that nothing interrupts the smooth line of the knife. It’s a brilliant solution and extremely fast, even though it is manual.
The blade of 8CR13MOV stainless steel takes and holds its edge well and offers good strength and hardness. Like all Kershaws, the OD-2 comes razor sharp right out of the box. The glass-filled nylon handle scales are stable, rigid, offer a non-slip grip, and don’t add much to the knife’s tiny weight. The clip is sturdy and can be reversed for tip-up or tip-down carry. Kershaw’s OD-2 was created to give you the “Over Drive” style you want in an unobtrusive knife priced for extreme value.
May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The “flipper” is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
Locks the blade open during use; one side of the knife’s steel “liner,” the steel plate to which the handle scales are attached, moves into position behind the blade to securely lock it open.
Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.
