Meet both champion skateboarders when they visit Ed Benedict Skatepark on October 4th, from 2:30-5 p.m.
Chris Cole and Tom Asta, two of the world’s most admired and respected professional street skateboarders are coming to Portland OR to meet, greet, and skate with young local skaters.
Cole and Asta will be in Portland in October to visit sponsor Kershaw Knives. Cole has been a fan of Kershaw knives for many years—he uses them to grip his skate deck—and has been sponsored by the company since 2012. Kershaw began sponsoring Asta earlier this year. Both skaters also wanted to spend some time in the skate park and meet the locals. So, they’re inviting local skaters to join them, get in some skating, and pick up some Kershaw swag. Cole and Asta will also be signing autographs while they’re there.
Chris Cole is a legendary skateboarder. In 2013 Cole won the Street League Super Crown Championship, among numerous other Skateboarding achievements, gold medals, and accolades. Chris is one of only two skaters to be named Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year—twice. Cole is featured in the documentary about his life entitled The Motivation 2, The Chris Cole Story, available on iTunes and Netflix. Skateboard great Tony Hawk says, “Chris has the ability to make the most difficult tricks look easy. His consistency, creativity, and hard work have already cemented his place in skating’s history.” Chris recently dropped a video for GoPro on a trip to Japan he filmed earlier this year.
Tom Asta was born and raised in Langhorne PA, Tom has the perfect combination of smooth style balanced with incredibly quick technical abilities. Tom now rides for the legendary Santa Cruz Skateboards. Tom can be found competing all year and around the world in Tampa Pro, Street League Skateboarding, X Games, Battle at the Berrics to name a few, but returns home to his family and friends in the community he grew up in and loves Langhorne PA.
“Tom’s character is awesome and his skate ethic is awesome,” says Chris Cole. “I knew that he would produce and he would grow to be a great skateboarder, on and off the board. He comes from a great family, great area, and great friends. He’s a solid individual and is totally confidant in who he is.” Tom recently dropped a video for Santa Cruz skateboards.
Local skaters have a great opportunity to meet Cole and Asta. The “Meet & Skate with Chris Cole & Tom Asta” event will be held at the Ed Benedict Skatepark at 10125 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR 97266, from 2:30-5 p.m., Wednesday, October 4th. Local skaters are invited to stop by after school and join the fun. Kershaw representatives will also be on hand to give out Kershaw lanyards, stickers, hats, and beanies while they last.
