The new partnership builds on the company’s successful partnership with Chris Cole and offers strong outreach to a new, younger audience.
Kershaw Knives is proud to announce its partnership with Street League Skateboarding (SLS) for 2017.
SLS is the first-ever professional league for street skateboarding. SLS showcases an international roster of skateboarding’s most elite pros competing in an easy-to-follow, instant scoring format on one-of-a-kind concrete skate plazas around the world. Since 2010, SLS has evolved to become the biggest skateboarding contest platform in the world, hosting an international competitive series with pros competing for skateboarding’s largest monetary prize purse in history.
Kershaw became involved with skateboarding and SLS through their sponsorship of Chris Cole, the SLS Super Crown World Champion in 2013. Cole uses Kershaw knives to grip his skateboard and has been a fan of Kershaw products for many years.
“We’re excited to share SLS’ mission of helping grow skateboarding here in the US and worldwide,” said Kershaw Marketing Manager Susan Dundas. “These young professional skateboarders are amazing athletes and we are proud to be a part of helping this sport get the recognition it deserves.”
In addition to traditional branding exposure, as part of its partnership, Kershaw will sponsor a skateboard set-up station at the SLS headquarters in southern California. There, visiting SLS Pros, skateboarders, and other members of the skateboarding industry will be able to use Kershaw knives at the set-up station to prep their boards to go skate. Dates and locations of the 2017 SLS Season will be announced soon.
